Skeletons Will Bring World Peace

Don't get me wrong. I like people who fight for things.
A quick walk through your history books will show you how valuable "fighting for something" is. I have no argument worth fighting for here but I just want to say I am battled-scarred from the fight.

I have been accused of wearing rose-coloured glasses too many times. I have had "facts" crammed down my throat to the point of gagging. I feel perfectly well informed at this point. Thank you very much!
I think we can all agree that you have to fight for something. My issue is, at what point is the fight causing more division than peace?
Our skin colour divides us. Our gender divides us. Our sexual orientation divides us. Some of us are skinny or fat. Some of walk with a limp or live our lives in a chair.
Our political and religious views are divisive.
There doesn't seem to be anything left that we have in common...and we certainly don't celebrate our differences!

Ah! While not a perfect match, the skeleton may be the closest thing we all share.

I was asked recently about why I have such a deep fascination with dark things. Well, in a nutshell, history does fascinate me. I suppose it helps that my father was an extreme weirdo. However, for any of you who have suffered inconsolable pain, you will understand exactly why the dark arts are of great interest to me. They have become the fabric of my being.
While I truly recognize the problems in society plus the people and things which are causing division, I am simply wind-whipped by them.
(I will be in my blanket fort, if anyone needs me)

Our world is topped to the brim with things that divide. Adding my big fat opinion to any of it isn't going to cause any real change. Our world is dying a death by a million cuts and I am done adding fire to that flame.

Art and music remain the great healers and that is where you will continue to find me.

The DIRT on STEVER

Today was the day when a cemetery-style arm reached up out of the gravel I was walking on, grabbed a hold of my ankle and tripped me to the ground.
At least that is what I told myself. The truth is closer to me just being a clutz.
It happens to me especially on the days when my brain is packed beyond what I can handle. It is why I venture out into nature. The fresh air, sunshine and sounds of wildlife clear the cob webs of my mind.

My first reaction after I fall is to brush off the dirt. Why do I even do this? The dirt on my clothes isn't really that big of a deal. I could just leave it on there. As a society, we are so obsessed with cleanliness and antibacterial sprays and soap that we would rather disinfect our lives to our death than visually see dirt.
'Brushing off the dirt' has become synonymous with resetting something awful in our life. I believe the bigger problem is the poison that we have allowed into our life. We seem to have no problem brushing off the dirt, while we suck back carcinogens, alcohol and fast food.
We seem to base everything on what we see and smell, not to mention how it tastes.
One of the reasons why I respect (properly-run) science so much is because it longs for truth. It looks at things under the microscope and inside the body to see what kind of damage it can do. We spend a lot of time making sure our hair and make up, nails and skin looks OK but the products we are using are causing BIG damage in to our insides and the environment. Our obsession with how things look outweighs the actual damage that it is causing.

The dirt on my clothes is the least damaging thing I have done to my looks.
Similarly, the dirt in our lives comprises the chapters in our book. The lines in our face tell the stories of our travels. When I see someone with dirt under their nails, I know they are ALIVE and LIVING.

Dirt is synonymous with gossip. If you are transparent about your 'dirt', it isn't half as fun for the media to comment on it.

Dirt should not be used as a negative analogy for anything. It is the earth beneath our feet that grows our food, houses many of our animals and is a major component in the ecosystem that keeps us alive.
Just like the dirt you walk on, the dirt of your past and present is part of the make up of who you are and you should expect it for your future because it's also going to play a significant role in your healing.

I am thankful for falling today because it snapped me out of the terrible echo chamber that my thoughts were stuck in.
Being grounded isn't so bad!

Pouring Sickly Sweet Sauce Over Our Problems

I walked by a VON van (They are awesome mobile nurses that help tons of people) which was parked.

An elderly woman smiled and waved at me …and I smiled back. She mimicked my speed walking with her arms and was laughing. Then, she gave me the thumbs up.
I spent quite a bit of time thinking about what was going through her head.

*Was she an exercise freak back in the day?
*Was she just an eternally happy soul who loved to encourage others?

They say we learn our most valuable lessons in the last years on Earth.

It is also when you stop running.
We seem to spend our lives running.
Running from/to what? Well, that is different for everyone.

Some of us are running away from something and some of us are running to something. Those two scenarios don't seem to be the problem. The problem is when we quit running half a century before our death.

Each of us has something in our life we are passionate about, some of us just tend to bury the passion.
What causes that? Our own thoughts…our own worry.
We worry about two things more than anything else.
1. Money
2. Relationships

It would actually be OK if we just worried about those two things. But we obsess over them (too funny, my AutoCorrect made that, "but we have sauce over them")
I suppose we do pour sauce over them. We add worry, stress and sleepless nights. We dream of potential scenarios that pretty much never happen. We add so much stickiness to an already sweet dessert and then we make ourselves sick when we eat it.

The terrible things in our lives make themselves known right in front of our face….like a smack to the forehead. The positive things we should be involving ourselves with seem to require gentle (OR hit-us-over-the-head-with-an-anvil style) reminders not even hourly…but by the minute!

⁃       We chase food/drugs/alcohol
        ⁃       We obsessively follow politics
        ⁃       We gossip about each other

        ⁃       We don't chase dreams/goals/ambitions
        ⁃       We don't follow positive news
        ⁃       We don't spend quality time with each other

WE FORGET TO PLAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I am thankful for the elderly lady in that van giving me a gentle reminder this morning to fill my day with things that matter and try to emulate the lessons she has learned 40 years before my deathbed.
Life is very precious and each of us has a choice to fill our days with things that are meaningful, loving and impactful.
