What an absolute trip my life is. I have beds of roses which have turned into horror stories. I have rose-colored glasses which have been trampled under foot. I am mostly on a roller coaster which I haven't been able to get off of. It's like an acid trip in it's 11th hour that you seriously can't stop. Just when something starts to become ridiculous, it takes a sharp left turn into madness.
How do you survive the final hours of the acid trip? How do you stay on a roller coaster that is making you sick?
You turn it all into art. You simply have to.
Most artists will tell you that their art comes from ugliness or at least originated there. If you are deep and dirty into your pain, you won't even be aware that you are creating art. You are simply purging, reacting and exorcising the demons.
There are so many self-help books out there. Having access to internet means you can get the help you need. It is there.
The truth for most of us is that help is great but we may not be at the place yet where we are sponges ready to absorb it. You might not be in a position to collect your thoughts. The data coming at you may be too severe to process any of it...rendering it useless for the time being.
You may be on the verge of complete melt-down. You may be fit to be tied.
I seriously think the most valuable first step to healing is to have the necessary down-time, quiet time to confront ourselves...not others. This may mean unplugging from the internet, avoiding phone-calls or locking yourself somewhere away from the world... FOR A TIME.
Depression can make us do these things as a life-style. That is unhealthy. What I am trying to do is give myself permission to allocate time to do nothing, eat ice cream and feel sorry for myself knowing that it is absolutely temporary. It is allocated time.
While straight jackets may be the extreme way to stop madness temporarily, I do like that it sets a calm time. Imagine zipping yourself into a sleeping bag where you do nothing. Could you do it? No phones, no sound, no lights, no people?
Many of you may feel like you are already there by someone else's hand or by your own depression. But have you ever put yourself into the sleeping bag or straight jacket in order to RESET?
You are absolutely entitled to this time. Every great task in life requires a certain amount of creative thinking time and strategy.
Aren't you sick of just being the knee-jerk reactor? Don't you want to achieve the happiness which comes from having inner peace followed by inner exuberance?
I know I am ready...I am resetting daily!
I can't wait to share the next creation with you: a video called BLACKGUARD which takes place at the Asylum where Ian is imprisoned. He is using his downtime to create a game-plan. Action is always better than reaction.
Little brave ones, have my praise!!
Karen :)
