I was talking to Laurie, an online friend. She was telling me how her child who has Aspergers was struggling but is now at the top of her class. I told her that I was glad to hear someone on the spectrum at the top of the class. It is a good lesson to others not to judge them.
It was through her 'Mama Bear protecting the cub' reaction that she was able to put an end to the bullying that her daughter had endured. She set the mentors and teachers on the right path and in turn, her daughter now has the freedom to learn in a safe environment. Isn't it interesting that in order to learn, all she required was to be safe, not separated?

I love that the Internet allows us to instantly educate one another. When I was growing up, there was simply the slow class in our school. Everyone called them 'the retards'.
The weird part of that is it wasn't done in cruelty, it was just society's way of grouping them. Obviously, this is terrible.

Conformity sucks. Compassion is lacking. If we ever hope to have true peace in this world, it starts through acceptance and tolerance.
I don't mean that as a blanket statement. We cannot accept or tolerate what is obviously wrong. Given the chance, each of us has something really unique to offer.

In this case, Laurie has left a great big Mama Bear paw print on her daughter's school. So freaking AWESOME!
