However, the sound was inspired by the Griffith Park Organ. I spent a lot of time jogging near it, laying in the grass next to it or eating churros on a bench beside it. I was always trying to figure out the parts. Was that an accordion? Did someone hit bells or play an xylophone? Sometimes, they would play the soundtrack from the Wizard of Oz, other times it was so dark, it made me wonder if it was suitable for children.
"This is the Stinson 165 Military Band Organ, which is part of the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. According to Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, it is reputed to be the largest band organ accompanying a carousel on the West Coast, plays over 1500 selections of marches and waltz music." -Google
This is in the 'Green' video from the record. The lyric is: "But your fairground organ, it makes them so frightened..."
I feel like my own heart is that kind of music: dark, ugly with glimmers of hope. I think each of our hearts has a song it sings. What sounds and message are embedded inside of yours?
Music does heal...
ROCK ON!
